Center will make the visitor marvel at the more than 130 showrooms and 2,100 product lines offered by thousands of manufacturers housed under the PDC's glinting roof. One not-to-miss showroom at Pacific Design Center is owned by mannequin mastermind Ralph Pucci. Pucci's career began in the family business--operating his parents' mannequin company in the 1950s. Further into his profession, the Pucci progeny famously turned the traditional mannequin into a work of art with his action collection whereby he created mannequins in diving, headstand, and even yoga poses. Pucci's love of fashion and design allows the artist to work with some of the biggest names in the business, including models, fashion designers, furniture manufacturers and even illustrators in order to create his contemporary pieces. AsecondpopularshowroomatthePDCisthe Thomas Lavin showroom. The entrepreneur started his Pacific Design Center career as a salesman for Kneedler-Fauchere in 1995. Recognizing the incredible talent of some unrepresented interior furnishings designers, Lavin decided to open his own Los Angeles boutique to showcase as-yetunknown talent. His namesake showroom at the PDC, opened in 2005, is now a showcase of furniture, fabric, lighting manufactures and more, all receiving their small bit of fame in his 11,000-square-foot space in Center Blue. If kitchen wares are up your alley, stroll towards Poggenpohl. The German kitchen design house is known for its luxuriously state-of-the-art pieces. Their lines range from "modern purism" to "modern classic" and include a cubic stylishness and uniquely fresh feel. If an antique look is more your style, check out the William Switzer showroom. The Canadian-born antique furniture house celebrates its traditions with elaborate details and gilding on each piece in The William Switzer Collection--boasting an impressive 900 in the current catalogue.
