SIGNATURE PROPERTY coronado cays california A contemporary design by architect John Lautner of glass, concrete and stone with spacious and soaring lines that boldly opens onto 94 feet of bayfront property. This home is believed to be Lautner's last design and his only in San Diego County. A student of Frank Lloyd Wright, he was ranked the world's second greatest architect by Wright, after himself. Considered an organic architect, Lautner's designs include the exotic homes in Los Angeles known as the "Chemosphere", the "Silvertop" as well as Bob Hope's sprawling Palm Springs mountaintop home and a residence in Acapulco, which an architectural preservationist named "the most remarkable home in the world". Hollywood used Lautner's designs in movies, including the James Bond thriller "Diamonds Are Forever". This Lautner design was integrated with specialty delights such as a swim-in-place pool, a skylight that opens to a rooftop view deck, a rolling ladder to reach the glass areas. The vertical-grain Douglas fir exudes earthy warmth to the home and is used in the stairway and cabinets. Natural light pours through skylight cylinders into this signature property.
